Rosea Lee (Doll) Mims Smith

Born:  18 September 1920 - Palestine, Anderson, Texa
Died:  20 January 2000
Father:  Jerry Mims
Mother:  Stella Mims
Spouse:  Henry Smith - 1950

 

Mrs. Rosea Lee Smith was born on September 18, 1920, in Palestine, Texas to Jerry and Stella Mims.  She united with the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church at an early age and remained faithful until she moved away  She received her formal education in Texas, graduating from Lincoln High School, Class of 1940.
Rosea married John Henry Smith in 1950.  To this union, one child was born, Johnnie Rose.
In 1963, the family moved to Los Angeles, California where they joined the Greater Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member under the leadership of Dr. J.W. Evans.
Mrs. Smith retired after working a number of years in the health care industry.  She continued her work as a private duty nurse up until her health began to fail her.
God called Rosea Lee Smith home on Monday, January 24, 2000, at 10:30 p.m.  Her husband preceded her in death in 1973.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Johnnie Smith-Mitchell, one grandson, Jimmy Mitchell and two grandchildren all of Los Angeles, California.  She also leaves to mourn, two sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Stone and Willie Mae Mims of Palestine, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
